Rio Verde, AZ Real Estate

Rio Verde is an unincorporated community northeast of Scottsdale. It is a beautiful gated master- planned community of approximately 1400 active adults. It sits along the edge of the Verde River and is surrounded by picturesque views of the best scenery the desert has to offer. The views are nothing less than spectacular. The Verde River gently flowing in the foreground, Four Peaks rising in the background of the beautiful the greens of the Quail Run and Whitewing courses captivate the senses and have made it the ideal place to enjoy all the privileges of retirement living at its finest.

Rio Verde began in the 1880s as a community of farmers who raised alfalfa for the nearby Fort McDowell Army Camp. The Verde River provided the means to irrigate the desert and literary allowed the original farms to flourish. William W. Moore, acquired many of the farming plots shortly thereafter, and his sons soon expanded and began the Box Bar Ranch raising cattle and forming a partnership with their father’s brother in law to form the Moore Brother’s Cattle Company which operated until 1955.

By 1979, iRio Verde was beginning to thrive as one of Arizona’s best kept secrets in retirement living, growing rapidly without the benefit of national acclaim. They even began their own member-owned, non-profit association, the Rio Verde Saddle Club, which provided facilities and full-time care for member’s horses. It was a natural ascension for a community who owns its existence to one of the area’s most successful ranches. Rio Verde’s uniqueness as a community was developed early on by capitalizing on activities such as golf, tennis, hiking and equestrian activities; activities that Arizona’s climate and the community’s incredible scenic beauty are so aptly fit for enjoying year round.

By 1981 there were two championship courses in Rio Verde and in 2007 Rio Verde had already renovated both courses. It is an immaculately maintained community with a sincere pride of ownership that is immediately recognizable when one enters the gates of this exclusive community.

Home prices begin in the mid $200s and go up to just under a million, and afford a great opportunity for those who wish to enjoy the enchantment of a river front community in the Sonoran Desert of Arizona, nestled against the foothills of the McDowell Mountains, to realize their dreams. It is a community that has to been seen to be fully appreciated. If you meet the age requirements, you really owe it to yourself to take a look at what Rio Verde has to offer.
