 North Phoenix is an area that encompasses the communities of Happy Valley, North Mountain, Deer Valley, Desert View, and the Paradise Valley neighborhood, not the town of Paradise Valley. The Phoenix and Camelback Mountains run through North Phoenix and provide great hiking trails for North Phoenix residents as well as for great home sites for many of the million dollar homes in the area. Camelback Mountain’s Echo Canyon recreational area is a favorite for local hikers and is said to offer the best view of Phoenix from the top.
Homes in the five North Phoenix neighborhoods are mix of everything from the more moderately priced homes constructed in the 1950’s and 1960’s in the North Mountain area to the newer more expensive master planned communities of Paradise Valley.

Homes in the North Mountain area of North Phoenix are brick and slump block construction, typically single story on large lots a great majority of which with citrus trees and diving pools. In this neighborhood it is common to see horses grazing in corrals in front of the house and next door a home that has been converted into a community church. It is an interesting unique atmosphere that adds to the color of this community in the nation’s fifth largest city.

The Desert View area of North Phoenix is completely different in its flavor. It borders Scottsdale and offers more f a rural feel lifestyle with ample equestrian properties. Homes sit atop lots that blend seamlessly into desert around them. It is a bit more expensive than the North Mountain area. Pricing is more comparable to the Happy Valley area of North Phoenix.

The Deer Valley community of North Phoenix is more upscale and homes are newer that those in the aforementioned communities. Deer Valley residents also enjoy a higher than average income than the median income for the state of Arizona. Deer Valley is home to some North Phoenix’s largest employers as it has more industrial zoning than any other North Phoenix community. Some of these include Lucent Technologies, Honeywell International and American Express. Deer Valley offers many newer master planned communities by all of metro Phoenix’s most popular builders.

Paradise Valley, not to be confused with the Town of Paradise Valley is the area of North Phoenix that is marked most notably by the Paradise Valley Mall and offers a slightly more affordable upscale standard of living than that of the town by the same name. It is a great place to find an upscale condominium with amenities geared towards the tastes of the discerning urbanite. It is also a community of choice for many families due to the reputation of the Paradise Valley School District.

North Phoenix offers great shopping with major malls located in all the five areas and numerous restaurants from small neighborhood cafes to fine dining to suit even the most refined palette. You can find an ample selection of outdoor activities from golf at a world class resort to hiking up one trails that wind up the mountains. Its location and service by Interstates 10 and 17, the Loop 101 and 51 freeways make all valley destinations just moments away.
