Fountain Hills, AZ Real Estate

Perched against the eastern slope of the McDowell Mountains, Fountain Hills is home to the world's tallest fountain. McDowell Mountain Range provides a natural separation from neighboring Scottsdale and the Phoenix Metro area. As one can imagine, they also provide exquisite views to the affluent homes of Fountain Hills’ residents.

The famous fountain, sits in the center of the man-made lake of the 32 acre park that is at the heart of Fountain Hills. The lake and the fountain were built as more than a picturesque park feature. They are in fact a reclaimed water storage and evaporation system for the town, packaged ingeniously and a testament to the designers’ creativity and marketing savvy. Fountain Hills was designed to be everything it has become by Robert P McCulloch and Charles Wood Jr., the designers of Lake Havasu City. Their vision of an upscale community with clean mountain air and recognizable landmark has been realized and rewarded. Fifty Fabulous Places and Parenting magazine both list it as one of their top picks for family life.

Fountain Hills shares a fascinating history with Fort McDowell, its neighbor to the east and that history is showcased in the new River of Time Museum. The River of Time Museum is in a facility it shares with the Public Library. The Fountain Hills Public Library is a newly constructed state of the art facility that offers meeting rooms, a children's reading area and public computers. As one would expect from a town recognized as a great place for families, Fountain Hills schools have a wonderful reputation and an average student teacher ratio of 16 students per certified teacher. Parents surveyed were reported as being very happy with the district.

The Fountain Hills Great Fair is one of two annual fairs that take place each year, the other is the fall festival and it is a time where residents come out together and indulge in one of their great loves, art. Some 500 artists from around the country line up along Fountain Hills Blvd. These days they attract over 200,000 people to the event. There is always plenty of food, clean restrooms, live entertainment, and air hot-air balloon race. The magnificence of colorful balloons rising up, while reflecting in the lake against a beautiful mountain background is something to behold. It is a photographers dream. The Fall Festival although smaller attracts over 100,000 people to the park, which is a lot of visitors to town with a population of a little more than 24,000. It is a glowing reflection of the town’s hospitality and their council’s planning abilities.

As designed, the park is the place where the community comes together, Sunday afternoons in the spring it is brimming with families picnicking and listening to a jazz or country concert. Ballet under the stars is another series for the whole family; it ranges from classical to contemporary dance. That's not your style, how about a movie in the park or the Oktoberfest, the Easter Eggstravaganza, The Thanksgiving Turkey Trot 5 K Run or the St Patrick's Day Celebration for fun? There really is something for everyone at the park!

Fountain Hills is an affluent community with a median home price of 380,000 and a crime index of only 29, the national average being 100. It is not hard to see why Fountain Hills is such a desirable place to live and raise a family when taking into account all it has to offer.
