Fort McDowell, AZ Real Estate

Fort McDowell is home of the Yavapai Nation and the community was created by executive order in 1903. The Verde River runs through Ft McDowell and Four Peaks rise in the east providing an unusual stark beauty to this community of 600 residents.

The "people of the red mountain" as the Fort McDowell Yavapai refer to themselves, are one of three Yavapai tribes in Arizona and take great pride in their community. “They welcome respectful people to come and enjoy their beautiful lands” and enjoy a stay at one of their award winning facilities.

The Radisson Fort McDowell Resort and Conference Center is a four star resort whose guest can play 18 holes at the Cholla or Saguaro Courses, both ranked among the best in Arizona. Cholla with its stunning panoramic views was rated the highest of all Arizona courses in 2007. If you desire to pamper yourself, the Fort McDowell Spa and Salon will cater to your every need. Fine dining at the Ahnala Restaurant and Lounge is a favorite of resort guests and locals alike. And of course there is the full service casino that offers live keno, live bingo, card room, slots, six restaurants, and live entertainment.

Are you looking for something a little different? Fort McDowell also offers Fort McDowell Adventures. Fort McDowell Adventures is a way to experience the lands the Yavapai call home in an intimate way. You can float down the Verde River and drink in an undisturbed natural landscape including four different mountain ranges, wild horses grazing along the riverbanks, great blue herons wading along the water’s edge, and majestic bald eagles hunting for prey.

You can also experience this pristine area on a variety of land tours either by hiking, biking, horseback riding, or by jeep. The native tour guides will bring the past alive as they share their stories of their history on the land and of its cultural importance. The Yavapai people of Fort McDowell are as an important part of the enjoyment visitors experience as is the land itself and the incredible and varied amenities. Fort McDowell, in addition to its native themed activities, also offers cowboy cookouts, city slicker cattle drives, campfire cookouts to share the area’s history as a cavalry outpost.

All of the attractions of Fort McDowell have been thoughtfully created for the enjoyment of their guests and to share a bit of their culture, a culture older than Fort McDowell itself. It is an experience that is sure to become etched indelibly within even long after you've gone. That experience is responsible in part for drawing many new residents to Arizona and the Salt River Valley.
