Carefree, AZ Real Estate

Carefree is "Home of Cowboys and Caviar, Where the Old West Meets the New" so goes the motto of this upscale western community just north of Scottsdale. It is small community nestled in the rolling foothills of the Sonoran Desert of approximately 4,000 people who enjoy a per capita income significantly above the norm.

Carefree residents are some of Arizona's most appreciative and mindful of their environment, choosing to build and landscape by accentuating the natural desert environment rather than trying to reshape it. Take a drive down Tranquil Trail, Easy Street or Ho-and-Hum Road and you will find beautiful Santa Fe style homes with some of the most beautifully desert-scaped yards in Arizona. The stately Saguaro is often the center piece of choice, surrounded by succulents with brightly colored blooms and other smaller varieties of cacti, accented by thoughtfully placed landscaping lights to ensure its beauty is equally as visible after sunset.

Carefree's small town feel does not mean residents go without--quite the contrary. Carefree's town leadership caters to its upscale residents needs and desires better than many other comparably sized communities. The Gardens at Carefree Town Center is a three plus acre botanical garden at the center of Carefree and serves as the cultural gathering place for the community. Carefree residents enjoy a myriad of activities there including, concerts under the stars in the park's outdoor amphitheater, the Saturday Morning Garden Seminars, Friday Farmer's Market, Earth Day Celebrations, the Sonoran Festival of Fine Art, and the Carefree Fine Art and Wine Festival. Also located in the Garden's at Carefree Town Center is the Carefree Sundial, which is the largest sundial in America.

Carefree residents enjoy getting out and about, and have easy access to a variety of outdoor activities just minutes away. At Bartlett Lake you can go for a swim, hang out at the beach, or cruise the lake on a boat or jet ski. The Spur Cross Conservation Area is a spectacular sight in the spring when colorful wildflowers explode and cover the diverse terrain of the upper Sonoran Desert. It is a sight to behold and a sensory experience not soon forgotten. For those who love ancient artifacts, Sears Kay Ruin is the place to visit with its hand placed walls, paths of stone, carvings and glyphs that once was home to a Hohokam community of approximately 40, who simply vanished.

In case you didn't know, Easy Street is actually located in Carefree, Arizona! It is a unique collection of boutiques, restaurants, and art galleries; and it is a great place for those one of kind gifts or items you will not find at the local mall featuring the large familiar chain stores. It is a retail district befitting Carefree's distinct taste.

Last but certainly not least and worthy of mention is the Carefree Resort and Villas. The Carefree Inn as it was originally known was a favorite get away for Lucille Ball, Dick Van Dyke and Bob Hope. It is a family friendly resort that offers unparalleled luxury for its guests, yet there is nothing stuffy about it. It is where luxury and small town hospitality converge, which is the trademark of the town of Carefree itself, making the resort as well as the town a cherished destination its visitors return to year after year.
