Buckeye, AZ Real Estate

Buckeye is the western most town of the Phoenix Metro area. Founded in 1888, the Town of Buckeye is situated in the Hassayampa River Basin, atop the largest untapped groundwater aquifer in Arizona and surrounded by the White Tank Mountains. As the saying goes location is everything, and The Town of Buckeye, is no exception to that rule. Buckeye has the railroad, an airport, and 5 highways, making it easily accessible to the Valley of the Sun, California, and Nevada.

Buckeye, as with so many other towns in Arizona, was put on the map by the railroad. The Arizona Eastern Railroad, a steam rail line connected it to Phoenix in 1912. The town moved the business district to accommodate the location of the new railroad station, and Buckeye boomed! Major new buildings were constructed and the business community expanded. In 1935, Helzapoppin' Days were started by the Buckeye Chamber of Commerce, as a celebration for the lively and established boom town, that included a rodeo, carnival, a parade and street dancing. The monies raised from the festivities were given to the local churches to help the needy and to provide scholarships. The Helzapoppin Rodeo, Street Fair, Car Show and Derby, its modern day equivalent, is still bringing the community together every November for family fun. In the spring, it is Pioneer Days and the Buckeye Bluegrass Festival that bring the community out for family fun.

Today, three generations of Buckeye residents have created a veritable agricultural oasis in the midst of the desert over the last 100 years, and it continues to be the number one producer of Pima Cotton in the USA. Buckeye is also an "Arizona Main Street Community" because it provides assistance to businesses in an effort to enhance and promote the central business district.

Buckeye not only offers families great community events, but with a median home price of approximately $114,000, it is also a very affordable choice. Neighborhoods in Buckeye, range from older homes on considerable acreage to new homes on average size lots in master-planned community with greenbelts and community parks with schools located nearby. Buckeye school children enjoy a slightly lower than average student teacher ratio of 2:1.

Within minutes of Buckeye are other local attractions that beckon residents to enjoy the incredible weather of Arizona, such as the Buckeye Hills Regional Park, Robbins Butte Wildlife Sanctuary, and the Sundance Golf Course. Buckeye is Arizona's biggest small town; its location, culture, a family friendly atmosphere make it a wonderful community to call home. Hope to see you there!
